Olympics: Carlos leads U.S. call for scrapping of protest ban squib

The 75-year-old former sprinter on Saturday joined with active American athletes to send a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) calling for the abolition of Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter, which bans political protests. "Athletes will no longer be silenced," read the letter signed by Carlos and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee's Athletes' Advisory Council (USOPC AAC). Under Rule 50, that would not be allowed at next year's Tokyo Olympics.
